What to expect from a now 40-year-old Tom Brady, based on history

Aug. 3, 2017 marks Tom Brady’s 40th birthday. Barring the unforeseen, the Patriots star will become the seventh quarterback to start at least one NFL game at age 40 or older since the start of the 2000 season, and the first New England QB ever to do so.

And coming off one of the best seasons of his career in Year 17, Brady has given no reason to make anybody believe Year 18 won’t be just as special.

— Only 15 times in NFL history has a 40-plus-year-old quarterback attempted 100 or more passes in a season. Seven of those QBs completed 60 percent or more of their passes. Only two have attempted more than 500 passes or completed 300-plus passes: Brett Favre in 2009 and Warren Moon in 1997.

On his goals with the team: “I’m just coming here to help (and) get back into football. We’ll see how it goes.”

On how coach Adam Gase recruited him: “He asked what kind of shape I’m in. … I told him I was good to go. It was very short, very brief and they didn’t know what the situation was going to be here. And I kind of went from there.”

On how often he tossed footballs around during the past four months: “We got two boys so we are always doing something. And I’d go down to (Vanderbilt) and do some stuff down there … I was playing basketball in the mornings and there was football camps there, so you’re around it.”

On the role his wife, Kristin Cavallari, played in his return to football: “I think she got tired of me around the house. It was a little different. … She saw what kind of opportunity this was and she was all for it.”

On his adjustment to joining the Dolphins: “I got a lot of things I got to process. … I just want to get to this next meeting, figure out where the dinner room is, and then Cheap International Soccer Jerseys we will start learning the offense and some guys’ names.”

Here’s to hoping Cutler doesn’t have to get too into shape and that he Cheap Jarome Iginla Jerseys finds that dinner room.
