A key witness in the ongoing double-murder trial of Aaron Hernandez took the stand Monday and described in gripping detail the night the one-time NFL star allegedly shot and killed two men outside a Boston nightclub in 2012.
Alexander Bradley, a former confidant to Hernandez, testified he was driving the Toyota 4Runner when, prosecutors say, Hernandez opened fire from the passenger window, killing Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado on July 16, 2012. During testimony, Bradley identified Hernandez as the trigger man. Hernandez was angry over an encounter with the victims inside the nightclub, Bradley said, and ordered him to pull up next to the BMW sedan carrying de Abreu and Furtado at an intersection outside.
Not insignificant in all of this is Peterson making $12 million last year, and the Vikings declining his option for $18 million this year. The entire universe knew he wasn’t going to get eight figures in 2017, but seeing Lacy come off the market first among top-level running backs and end up with just $3 million had to make him flinch.
The death of the running back position has been foretold for years, surviving even the arrival of Ezekiel Elliott last season. But the discounted rates and lukewarm early interest reinforce that idea … and adds one more thing to work against Peterson.
It could be a number of factors that left Peterson on the outside looking in, but what’s known now is that he went to Seattle, came back without an contract, then saw Lacy get snapped up.
While Hall of Fame vote totals for controversial contemporaries Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens have been on the rise in recent years, making it a realistic possibility the pair could make it into Cooperstown, Sosa has polled between 6 and 9 percent each of the last four years — just above the 5 percent MLB Cheap Jerseys threshold necessary to stay on the ballot.
