White House statement: Eagles decided to abandon their fans

The White House is pushing an interesting version of the events of the last week, putting the blame for the cancellation of the Eagles trip on the team, and doing something that looks an awful lot like trying to drive a wedge between the Eagles and their fans.

Via Jonathan Tamari of Philly.com, an official statement from the White House said that, last Thursday, the team informed them that 81 people were coming for the planned visit. They claim that, on Friday, the team called back to tell them a much smaller number of people would be attending, and also attempted to reschedule the visit for next week.

It will be interesting to see if Lurie has any more thoughts in the future, after a week that has shown beyond a doubt that the NFL erred in thinking they could pacify Donald Trump with their hastily-composed anthem policy.

Our union is disappointed in the decision by the White House to disinvite players from the Philadelphia Eagles from being recognized and celebrated by all Americans for their accomplishment, the NFL Players Association said in a statement issued Tuesday morning. This decision by the White House has led to the cancellation of several player-led community service events for young people in the Washington, D.C. area.

NFL players love their country, support our troops, give back to their communities and strive to make America a better place.

Of course, the player-led community service events for young people could have proceeded. And maybe the better approach would have been to follow through with those plans. Given, however, that the NFL and its teams have decided to choose running and hiding and appeasing and capitulating over standing and fighting, it’s no surprise that the Eagles ultimately decided to just scrap the whole trip, and to hold an OTA day instead.

Hide your lunch money, NFL. It’s going to be another long and painful year. The suffering won’t stop until Trump wants it to stop. Sorry! You should have known better.

Former Houston Texans cheerleaders detail alleged mistreatment by team

Four of the five former Houston Texans cheerleaders who filed a lawsuit Friday against the team spoke out in appearances Monday on NBC. They described a workplace in which they were underpaid or, at times, not paid at all for work they did, not given adequate protection from aggressive fans and subjected to intimidation and body-shaming.

Of the five, only Morgan Weiderhold was absent, with Kelly Neuner, Ainsley Parish, Ashley Rodriguez and Hannah Turnbow detailing their experiences in interviews on the Today show and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. They were accompanied by their attorney, Gloria Allred, who also led them to the NFL’s Manhattan headquarters, where she presented a letter to be given to Commissioner Roger Goodell, demanding that cheerleaders stop being exploited and mistreated solely because they are women.

Vegas making Stanley Cup Finals isn’t bad for NHL

Tomas Nosek scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period, and the expansion Golden Knights surged past the Capitals for a 6-4 victory on Monday night.

We put fun ahead of everything, and you can tell, said Ryan Reaves, who scored the Knights’ tying goal in the third period. Guys have are having fun and they’re smiling.

The Eastern Conference champion Capitals hadn’t given up this many goals in 29 games since March 18, but they hadn’t seen anything like this charmed run by the upstart Knights. With its sellout crowd of hometown fans at deafening volume all night, Vegas put its usual speed and relentlessness on full display while overcoming that third-period deficit to win the opener of a matchup between two franchises seeking their first Stanley Cup titles.

I think next game is going to be different, and all the nervousness, all the bad thing goes away in this game, said captain Alex Ovechkin, who had an assist. We just have to forget about it and bounce back (in the) next one.

And making these numbers more impressive is Andujar usually hits eighth and Torres mostly bats ninth.

I feel so great, Torres said. When I come to the ballpark, every day I just try to do my job, help my team. Enjoy and do my job. Just learn every day. Be mature every day and help. It’s the most important thing.

Andujar is the same way, and having his buddy Torres around for the fun makes it extra special.

It’s been an amazing experience for us just to be together here, Andujar said. We’re trying to do the best we can and trying to help the team. It’s been a great ride for us.

In Torres’ at-bat, he worked the count to 2-2, then fouled off a high fastball to stay alive before ripping his game-winning hit on a 95-mph heater that was down and in the zone.

I just put myself relaxed, Torres said. Try to put the ball into play and help my team. I think it is the most important for me… help my team when I’ve got opportunities. When I don’t do my job, I feel bad.

Broncos’ Sanders relieved there’s no QB competition

For the last few years, the Denver Broncos’ offseasons have been embroiled in quarterback competitions. Case Keenum’s signing ends that string of uncertainty.

I appreciate it, for sure, receiver Emmanuel Sanders said, via the team’s official website. This is the first time in two or three years that I’m not standing up here talking about a quarterback debate.

When you’re going into individual routes, you have to go to one guy and then go with the next guy. You don’t really gain that chemistry. You’re not maximizing the opportunity. Now we’re maximizing the opportunity, and hopefully it pays off.

Sanders now has a full offseason to focus on building a rapport with Keenum as the Broncos attempt to get back to the playoffs for the first time since the QB mess started.

As of this point, he’s allowed to play at least two. Allowed by whom? His wife, Gisele Bundchen. I’ve talked two years with my wife, Brady said during an interview at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Santa Monica, California, per the Boston Globe. I’ve negotiated that thus far. I’ve still got a little further to go.

Brady noted that playing for as long as he has, has meant that his wife and three children have gotten a shorter shrift than he did from his own father. The model I had as a father was he was there for all the things, and I’m not there for all the things, Brady said. Every Sunday for the last 25 years, I’ve been playing in the fall and winter. My kids are 10, 8 and 5. They’re not getting younger, so I need to take time so I can be available to them, too.

Growing up, most Canadian athlete’s dream of being the next Wayne Gretzky or Sidney Crosby, and Dakoda Shepley was no different.

He played hockey for nine-and-a-half years before an injury ended that dream but started a new one.

“In grade 10 I broke my hand fighting so I went to go see a surgeon, who ended up giving me a 30-minute lecture on why I should be playing football instead,” Shepley explained to Sporting News. “At the time I was around 6-foot-2, 260 pounds, so I was a big kid, too big to be playing hockey that’s for sure.

“He was giving me this whole spiel about how I Cheap Embroidered NFL Jerseys could get school paid for and play [football] Cheap Football Jerseys professionally, so I just dropped hockey cold-turkey.”

Giants can’t go wrong in NFL Draft if they pass on QB at No. 2

With about one week until the 2018 NFL Draft, early first-round projections are all over the map. For the Giants and new general manager Dave Gettleman, there should be little stress surrounding their No. 2 overall pick. As long as they don’t select a quarterback, they really can’t miss.

I’m not saying it’s a bad quarterback class; there several exciting QB prospects. But quarterback drafting generally is risky, and the Giants don’t need one at the top of this draft.

Gettleman and the Giants should have their choice of at least one of the two best non-QBs in this draft — running back Saquon Barkley or defensive end Bradley Chubb. And if the Browns go quarterback at No. 1 as expected, the Giants could choose either talented player.

When I was an NFL executive, I never wanted to sit in Gettleman’s draft spot, as that would mean my team had a terrible previous season unless we somehow had landed the No. 2 pick via trade. I always wanted to pick at No. 31 or 32 as one of the Super Bowl teams, or at worst in the 20s as a playoff team. At least Gettleman can say he inherited the No. 2 spot as a newly hired GM.

Barkley would add support for Manning, as will free-agent signee Nate Solder at left tackle. And it appears Gettleman and new coach Pat Shurmur want to see what their diva superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr. can bring to the table before the Giants give him huge money in a contract extension or trade him away.

It’s a good sign that OBJ has reported to the Giants’ offseason program — at least so far. Gettleman and Shurmur know the good OBJ, focused and healthy, can help lead a Giants resurgence at least for this season until his long-term future with the team is determined.

Linebacker: Sean Lee is a stud on the weak side, and Jaylon Smith in 2017 showed he still has some untapped upside for the inside. The Cowboys, however, lost versatile playmaker Anthony Hitchens to the Chiefs in free agency, leaving Damien Wilson as an unappealing next best option, especially given his off-field concerns. Former Packer Joe Thomas is only a depth swing guy. The Cowboys need a Cheap Penguins Jerseys well-rounded starting option, preferably one who can get to the quarterback.

Defensive tackle: Although the Cowboys have some options to support DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford on the edges with recent draft picks Charles Tapper and Taco Charlton and newcomer Kony Ealy, the interior Cheap Online Jerseys lacks pop beyond the disruptive David Irving.

With Pettway limited by injury in 2017, Johnson emerged as the lead back.

He earned first-team All-SEC honors after racking up 1,391 yards and 18 touchdowns to go along with 24 catches for 194 yards and his first two receiving touchdowns as a Tiger.

ANALYSIS Penny might not be elite in any one area, but he is solid across the board – vision, patience, balance, inside toughness. He finds slivers of daylight and hits them, bursting to the second level with force.

Penny trusts the play design and doesn’t waste time in the backfield. He has improved as a receiver, but his primary flaw is exposed in pass protection, missing blitzers and getting his quarterback hit. However, his value on special teams (tied the FBS record with seven kickoff returns and eight total returns) will be appealing to NFL teams. Penny might not be overly flashy, but he is durable, reliable and the production speaks for itself and he projects as a potential starter at the next level.

8. Royce Freeman Oregon 6-0, 229, 40 time: 4.54 Projection: Third Round OVERVIEW Freeman came to Oregon from Imperial, Calif., seeking to continue the Ducks’ pipeline of highly-productive running backs. He wasted no time in making an impact, earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors from multiple publications and being named the conference’s Freshman Offensive Player of the Year after totaling 1,523 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns.

It’s going to be a lot of fun to be a Jet, Sam Darnold, in his blue suit and skinny brown tie, was telling a lone cameraman a few feet away before the No. 3 overall pick was asked to give his first J-E-T-S cheer.

Then, they converged, the future face of the Giants and the future face of the Jets, in a freight elevator. Barkley and Darnold had spent so much of this crazy night in each other’s orbit, so maybe it was only fitting that they’d take this ride into the Dallas night and their future together.

The Browns landed their franchise quarterback in Baker Mayfield and followed that pick by getting the best corner in the class in Denzel Ward. Now Cleveland can address the gaping hole that Joe Thomas left when he retired by bringing aboard Connor Williams, a versatile, athletic talent who can play multiple positions along the line.

The Giants landed star running back Saquon Barkley at No. 2 and can Cheap NFL Jerseys Nike now fill a big need on their line with James Daniels. He’s the perfect Best Site To Buy Cheap Jerseys center for New York to get its running game back on track in 2018.
