Stetson holds off Brown 17-13 for first win of season

Colin McGovern ran for two scores, Stetson’s defense grabbed two interceptions that led to scores, and the Hatters held off Brown 17-13 on Saturday for its first win of the season.

McGovern scored what proved to be the winning TD on an 8-yard run six plays after Colby Duncan picked off a third-quarter pass by Thomas Linta on the Brown 30.

After Stetson missed a fourth-quarter field goal, Brown’s Darius Daies scored on a 12-yard run to cap a 75-yard drive with 8:55 left. The Bears reached the Hatter’s 34 with 1:48 to play before fumbling the ball away.

McGovern was 26 of 36 for 269 yards passing for Stetson (1-5), and also scored on a 7-yard run for a 10-7 halftime lead. McGovern gained 28 yards on 15 carries, but the Hatters were held NHL Jerseys China to 57 total yards on the ground.

Brown (2-2) led 7-3 in the second quarter after Linta, 14 of 21 for 143 Nike NFL Jerseys yards with the interception, hit Jaerlon Blanburg on a 40-yard pass.

Notre Dame is capitalizing on a line featuring two likely high draft picks in Nelson and left tackle Mike McGlinchey. The Irish have revved up the rushing attack under new coordinator Chip Long, eclipsing 300 rush yards in four games after failing to do so once last season. Notre Dame’s 10.1 yards per carry at Boston College set a modern-era record. Nelson is a preseason All-American who has done nothing to diminish lofty predictions.
